Dr. O’Beirne received her dental degree from the National University of Ireland in Cork and later a Certificate in Periodontics and Master of Science in Dentistry from the University of Washington. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and an Affiliate Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, Department of Periodontics, with a focus on Interprofessional Education. Dr O’Beirne served on the Peer Review and Ethics Committee for the Seattle King County Dental Society (1997 – 2025). She is a past president of the Washington State Society of Periodontics and served on the Seattle King County Dental Foundation. A committed educator, she has lectured both in the USA and internationally on topics related to periodontal and peri-implant health. She is credited with publication of “Efficacy of a Sonic Toothbrush” and continues to investigate oral hygiene solutions that incorporate recent technological advances. She also contributed a chapter on “Oral Biofilms” in “Peri-implant Therapy for the Dental Hygienist”, (Wiley-Blackwell). Dr. O’Beirne owned and maintained a private practice in downtown Seattle from September 1995 to June 2025.
